Softants Project

Automated flying helicopter using AI/Robotics.

The FireAnt Project

Overview

This project is an open source solution to provide a multiple room and/or multiple property alarm system.

The system will be split into three tiers:

  • Main Control Panel.
  • This will monitor all the client sensors and raise major/public alarms. This will talk to multiple clients (remote) units and also control local alarms.
  • Remote Client Sensors.
  • This will be a box to be plugged into a property or large area (also running on battery power). Each remote client will have upto 'x' sensors.
  • Sensors.
  • Initially there will be three sensors; heat, smoke and IR. First supported sensors; Thermister (heat), smoke detector? and IR sensors(PIR)?

Hardware

The backbone for the project will be based on AVR chips with the minimum amount of cost involved. Our aim is for a multi processor, multi sensor array with the Atmel chips controlling the high level communication between the sensors and the control panel.

Open Source

The complete project will be available as open source. All circuits and software will be provided. All methods used will be documentent and published at this location.

Development Plan

  • Client Server TX/RX hardware (Near/Far/Long/Range?)
  • Which AVR Chip? 2313? Mega? -- Sould be same source :)
  • Thermister integration chip + circuit readings?
  • PIR Sensor Planning (Which one?)
  • Smoke Detector Planning (Which one?)
  • Fuzzy Logic/AI? When to setoff local and remote alarms?
